From Your Board of Directors

We are all feeling the pinch of the economy with higher prices and supply shortages—both in our efforts to do our best every day for our employers and in our personal lives. The Cape Fear Chapter of the ISM–CV has also been feeling the pinch this year. Paid memberships are down. Meeting fees and food prices have increased. The Treasury has been so low this year that it affects our ability to provide professional development opportunities for our members.

At a recent meeting the Board of Directors discussed this issue at great length. We can’t receive any more of the membership dues that are paid to ISM. Participation in the Meeting and Chapter Sponsorships Program by suppliers has been very low. The meeting fee has not increased in many, many years although the cost to the Chapter for the meetings has increased every year. The Chapter pays a fee to UNCW based on the number of people who RSVP. There has not been a penalty applied to those who don’t show up but the Chapter pays for no-shows. We discussed increasing the meeting fee from $20 to $25. However, we are sensitive to the current economic conditions. We need some new ideas for funding our efforts.

Your Cape Fear Chapter has been in existence for many years. Your Chapter is here to support You in Your pursuit of excellence in Your Supply Management roles. This is Your Chapter. Your input is needed. How will Your Chapter maintain and move forward? Please give this some thought and respond with Your ideas to Wanda Pugh-Trice ().

Your Cape Fear Chapter Board consists of dedicated people who devote personal time to ensure continued success of Your Chapter. Consider participating as a Board Member or as a Committee Member. There is much to be done.
