Message from the President
Hello to all,
Our September meeting was held at the Daily Grind restaurant in Greenville. We heard from FAC Logistics Controller, Wes Edwards and ECU Assistant Professor Dr. Scott Nadler on “Staying Competitive In Spite of Rising Oil Prices.” This was a very well-received topic and there was a lot of discussion. If you missed the meeting, Wes will deliver his part of the talk again on the evening of October 16th at the ISM-ECU student chapter meeting on the ECU campus. If you are interested in attending, send me an e-mail for more information.
In lieu of a regular meeting, our next event is a combined Satellite Seminar and plant tour on October 16th. The seminar titled, Applying Lean Concepts in Supply Management, will be held from 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM at Pitt Community College in Greenville, NC with a plant tour immediately following. Contact John Kros at krosj@ecu.edu by 5 PM, Monday October 13th to reserve your spot for this event. We are still searching for a good plant tour location. If you have ideas, please contact John Kros. More details on this event later.
Our November 11th meeting will feature a presentation on “Using Six-Sigma to Improve Supply Chain Performance.” This topic will be related to the October Satellite Seminar. More information will be sent out to the membership as it becomes available.
The student chapter has been active this year. They held a membership kickoff meeting in September and elected two new officers to fill open positions. The chapter is planning a plant tour for November. If your company would be interested in hosting, please contact Matt Robinson at MQR1228@ecu.edu.
ISM-CV has expressed a desire to have a representative from our chapter to manage our web site at their new web site location (www.ism-cv.org ). Scott Nadler is managing this task for the time being until we can find a dedicated individual. The board will consider adding this as a position to the board if anyone is interested in serving. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested.
I hope to see you at PCC on October 16th!
Best Regards,
Scott
